ST. ANDREW CATHOLIC CHURCH PRAYER GARDEN

.

Thanks to a generous donor whose penchant for horses led him to the rolling hills of this beautiful horse country, the outdoor prayer garden rises above the hills and is visible from a distance, welcoming people of all faiths to spend some time in prayer with two of the donor’s favorite saints, St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony of Padua.

The garden is designed to encourage prayer and includes two life-size rosary walks made from cast stone “beads” inlaid into interlocking brick pavers. The two different rosaries honor these two very different saints whose paths crossed during their lifetime. The outer rosary is the Franciscan Crown or seven-decade rosary while the inner rosary is a thirteen-decade St. Anthony chaplet. The steeples of the shrine were designed to complement the bell tower of the existing church as well as provide protection to the Italian marble statues.
